Product focus: Stopgap Fill and Prime
In the latest in our series of product spotlights, we take a look at Stopgap Fill and Prime.
What is it?
A two-component, fast drying flexible cement-based primer.
Where is it used?
Stopgap Fill and Prime has been designed to fill joints between panels of raised access flooring made of wood, metal or cementitious materials while priming the surface.
It can also be applied to flooring grade chipboard prior to the application of a recommended smoothing compound, removing the need to overboard the subfloor with plywood, potentially saving valuable time and expense.
What’s different about it?
The product has a thixotropic consistency, meaning that it flows freely when stirred but sets to a gel-like consistency on standing, allowing it to fill gaps. When applied up to a thickness of 1mm, Stopgap Fill and Prime sets rapidly and is ready to receive foot traffic in as little as 60 minutes.
Tiny fibres in the formulation maintain its integrity when subject to natural movement within the subfloor, preventing cracks and rendering small movements in flexible subfloors.
Something you might not know about the product:
Stopgap Fill and Prime is suitable for use over substrates with well-bonded, waterproof adhesive residues, prior to the application of the recommended smoothing compound.
