F. Ball at Cruise Ships Interiors Expo America

The company will exhibit its marine-certified range of adhesives and smoothing compounds at the exhibition in Miami this year.

The company will use the Cruise Ships Interiors Expo America to demonstrate why its marine-certified adhesives and smoothing compounds are used to install floorcoverings in some of the most prestigious cruise ships in the world.

The world’s only exhibition exclusively dedicated to connecting buyers and suppliers of the cruise design industry brings together leading cruise lines and shipyards with designers, architects, outfitters, and interiors suppliers from across cruise design. Participating operators include Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Virgin Voyages.

Marine Equipment Directive (MED) certified and tested in accordance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards, the company’s products for marine applications and include its recently launched fast-track, pressure sensitive adhesive for luxury vinyl tiles (LVTs), Styccobond F58 PLUS.

Recent projects involving their use include the refit of luxury cruise liner the Vasco da Gama, following its acquisition by Mystic Cruises, and the installation of floorcoverings throughout the brand new Crystal Endeavour presided over by Merima of Finland.

Also in F. Ball’s marine range are its Stopgap 700 smoothing compound, which is recommended for substrates subject to flexing or movement, such as steel decking, and Styccobond F49 temperature tolerant vinyl adhesive, which is water resistant and able to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations.

The export team will also use the expo to reinforce the company’s leading manufacturing credentials, highlighting the continual innovation and development to help flooring contractors to work to ever higher standards. This includes adhering to increasingly shorter time scales to meet client needs around project completion and avoiding disruption to other trades in marine environments. This is supported by certification of its manufacturing and quality processes to international standards ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.

Commenting on the company’s presence at the expo, Export business manager Gareth Lewis said: “People stepping on board a cruise ship often don’t give flooring a second thought, but it is as important an aspect of interior design as the rest of the décor and furniture. F. Ball products are developed and exhaustively tested to ensure both the appearance and safety of flooring over the lifetime of an installation – critical considerations for any marine environment.”

The Cruise Ships Interiors Expo America will take place from 7-8 June at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Florida. More information about the exhibition can be found here.
