Tomorrow’s Contract Floors Awards: Have Your Say

F. Ball’s new Floorsight™ fitter apprenticeship programme has been shortlisted in the Tomorrow’s Contract Floors Awards 2026, and voting is now open to determine who takes the top spot.

The annual awards recognise the flooring industry’s most innovative products and services as chosen by Tomorrow’s Contract Floors editorial team, with readers having the final say on which ones make the top ten.

Launched in partnership with the Flooring Industry Training Association (FITA) and WEBS training, and supported by the Contract Flooring Association (CFA), the ‘Floorsight™’ fitter apprenticeship programme provides career pathways in flooring aimed at ensuring the future of the industry.

It has been founded, in part, to tackle the persistent skills gap in the contract flooring industry and encourage younger people to consider careers in the flooring industry.

In addition to on the job learning, apprentices benefit from blocks of specialist training delivered at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence by experts from the company’s training and Technical Service Departments, supported by floorcovering manufacturers and FITA, with F. Ball also providing additional resources, including tools, workwear and the use of a laptop for apprentices for the duration of the two-year course.

The first cohort of 10 young people joined the programme in September, of which nine have been placed with partnering flooring contractors, while another participant, sponsored by F. Ball, will complete his apprenticeship working alongside F. Ball head of training Tim Green at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence.
