Product Focus: Stopgap Fast-Track 30
For this month’s Product Focus, we take a closer look at F. Ball’s rapid setting, rapid drying smoothing compound.
What is it?
Stopgap Fast-Track 30 is a rapid drying, rapid setting smoothing compound for preparing a wide range of sound absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors prior to the installation of new floorcoverings. Walk on hard from 30 minutes after application, it allows both textile and resilient floorcoverings to be installed in as little as 45 minutes.
Where is it used?
In fast paced projects, where the time available to install floorcoverings is reduced, or it is important to keep the time that areas are off-limits to a minimum – in schools, care settings and retail environments, for example.
It can be applied over a variety of surfaces, including Stopgap waterproof surface membranes, sand/cement screed, concrete, calcium sulphate (e.g. anhydrite), granolithic, terrazzo, epoxy and polyurethane resins, ceramic and quarry tiles. It is suitable for use in light and heavy-duty applications.
What’s different about it?
The latest advances in cement technology enabled F. Ball to create a smoothing compound that cures to chemically bind all water in the mix instead of requiring it to evaporate, dramatically decreasing the drying time.

Stopgap Fast-Track 30 is also protein-free, which allows it to be used in biologically sensitive areas such as hospitals and laboratories.
