Apprentices Football Tournament
A team of F. Ball apprentices competed in a special charity football tournament organised to highlight the benefits of opportunities offered by apprenticeships across Staffordshire, and hosted by Leek Town F.C.
The seven-a-side tournament took place at Leek Town’s F. Ball Community Stadium, named after the ground’s sponsor, and was run in partnership with Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce.
Teams representing 13 local companies with apprenticeship programmes competed in two groups to vie for a place in the final. While the F. Ball apprentices came third in their group, missing out on a place in the last four, the overall winners were the team from Thompson Wright Accountants.
All proceeds from the event were donated to Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce’s charity members.
Last year, F. Ball created six new apprenticeships across its engineering, technical services, marketing, operations, business administration and safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) departments at its Staffordshire headquarters. It is actively looking to identify additional opportunities for apprentices within the company.
