F. Ball makes a flooring connection with LinkedIn offices

A range of high performance products from F. Ball and Co. Ltd., the UK’s leading manufacturer of flooring adhesives and subfloor preparation products, have been used in the refurbishment of luxury office space at the LinkedIn Dutch headquarters in the Rembrandt Toren tower block, Amsterdam.

Flooring contractors, Vloerenbedrijf Hanic BV were contracted by Snelbouw Projecten BV to refurbish the 1800m² floor, throughout the tower block of the business-oriented social networking service.

Erwin van Hagen from Vloerenbedrijf BV said: “For such a prestigious and well known company, we knew that we needed to use flooring products that we could rely upon to deliver the best results. F. Ball had the solution for every different area of the tower block and every floorcovering that we worked with, delivering excellent results quickly and efficiently.”

After removing the existing floorcoverings, mechanically preparing the subfloor and checking that the floor was sufficiently dry, contractors used Stopgap P131 general purpose primer to prepare areas of raised access flooring and Stopgap P121 acrylic primer to prepare the remaining anhydrite subfloor. Priming promotes the adhesion of smoothing underlayments when used to smooth non-absorbent surfaces and also prevents smoothing underlayments drying too quickly on absorbent surfaces.

Stopgap 700 Superflex fibre reinforced smoothing underlayment was used by contractors over the areas of raised access panels to provide a smooth, sound surface, ready to receive a floorcovering. Stopgap 700 is a fast drying and self-levelling smoothing underlayment designed to accommodate the movement inherent in raised access panel and plywood subfloors.

Stopgap 300 HD heavy-duty floor smoothing underlayment was applied to the remaining anhydrite subfloors. Fast drying and self-levelling, Stopgap 300 is suitable for use in light to heavy-duty areas and can be used over a wide range of subfloor types, including calcium sulphate, sand/cement screed and concrete.

High performance adhesives from F. Ball were then used to secure a range of floorcoverings at the LinkedIn headquarters. Styccobond F3, which has high strength, good wet grab and is suitable for the installation of most carpets, was used to adhere custom printed carpet designed specially for LinkedIn.

Styccobond F44 acrylic adhesive, which gives a high bond strength, strong initial tack and a long open time, was used to adhere Bolon PVC sheet floorcoverings to kitchen and bathroom areas. Finally, Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier was used to install Interface carpet tiles to office areas. Styccobond F41 provides a permanently tacky film, to prevent carpet tiles from moving under normal traffic but enables them to be lifted and replaced easily when required.
