Tackling the current skills gap in the flooring industry, by offering supported apprenticeships and a pathway to a career in flooring.
Introducing the F. Ball Fitter Apprentice Programme
We are proud to introduce the F. Ball Fitter Apprenticeship Programme, a brand new initiative from F. Ball in collaboration with the Contract Flooring Association and Webs Training Ltd.
This two-year programme will combine on-the-job experience provided by apprentice employers with regular specialist training delivered at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence. The comprehensive course will ensure that the apprentices become fully competent in all aspects of flooring from subfloor preparation to adhesive selection and installation techniques, as well as important skills like health & safety and communication.
In January, we are hosting an Open Day at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence in Staffordshire, where we will be explaining to potential apprentice employers how the Apprenticeship Programme can support you in recruiting an apprentice, insight into how to unlock government funding, guidance on the application process, and details of the extensive practical training and resources we will offer throughout the entire duration of the apprenticeship.
How will the F. Ball Fitter Apprentice Programme support the Contractor and Apprentice
We will support the contractor to:
o Recruit the right apprentice for your business,
o Access Government funding,
o Complete any paperwork,
o Conduct risk assessments,
o Provide ongoing support and advice around mentoring young people.
We will support the apprentice by:
o Providing a laptop,
o Provision of a starter tool kit,
o Supplying branded workwear,
o Access to health & safety e-learning,
o Apprenticeship networking with other apprentices,
o Regular practical training courses at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence,
o Additional training at external training providers, as required.
What to expect on the Apprentice Programme Open Day.
The Open Day will provide you with all you need to know on how F. Ball will support both you and the apprentices. You will also be able to meet people from Webs Training (the flooring apprenticeship provider), CFA/FITA and F. Ball to discuss and learn more about the programme. The agenda for the day is:
• Welcome and Introduction
• Webs Training – What is involved, how does the course run etc,
• How does the practical learning take place and what is taught?
• Our support, facilities, networking, and training,
• How to sign up to the programme,
• Q&A,
• Tour of the F. Ball Centre of Excellence,
• Refreshments and networking.
