Quick-fire questions with Hryhoriy Lytvyn of LLC FloorService, Ukraine.
Hryhoriy runs LLC FloorService, which employs 26 people, in Lviv. Despite the challenges of the ongoing war in the country, he gives it only a passing mention, instead staying positive about the flooring industry and the future. We asked him a few questions about his company for this month’s F-Talk.
How did you come into the flooring industry?
After my studies as a technical engineer, I worked in the construction industry, working my way up from an ordinary engineer to a manager of gas station construction projects. I was always interested in the field of modern building materials. This curiosity led me to join a company that manufactured building materials, where I was a manager and technical engineer. From that moment on, my career shifted to products for flooring installations. The current business was founded in 2018.
What do you like about your job?
My job is very varied. It involves contact with customers, designers, architects and other stakeholders to bring projects to life, and new challenges present themselves all the time.
What do you think is important about a flooring installation and why?
Every phase of the project, from designing and planning to all the steps in the actual installation are crucial to a successful end result. Using good quality products provides us with reassurance and peace of mind.
What type of projects do you do?
Our projects range from hotels, offices, clinics to industrial floors and other large scale jobs. Of course, the war situation is extremely difficult and having a massive impact on everybody in Ukraine and what we do as a company.
Which project are you most proud of?
Working on the trendy iFest Hotel in Lviv was great. The building was complex with lots of special designs and patterns on floors, walls and even ceilings. Also, in a number of private clinics we were involved in installing LVTs. Every building is different, requiring its own approach. No day is the same, no project is the same. We love the diversity of the job.
How did you come to know F. Ball products?
They were recommended by a floorcovering manufacturer that we work closely with.
We ask if he has a go-to product for certain jobs?
We don’t have one particular F. Ball product as a ‘one size fits all’. Stopgap Red Bag works well for us. Our installers are also very enthusiastic about Styccobond F46. We are increasing our product knowledge and broadening the options available to us in order to provide the best solutions for our clients.
