Stopgap Isolator Membrane
Loose lay membrane
STOPGAP ISOLATOR MEMBRANE is an impervious loose lay membrane sheet that installers lay over damp/contaminated subfloors before fitting of a wide range of sheet vinyl, linoleum, rubber floorcoverings and bitumen backed carpet tiles. The membrane’s underside nodules create an airspace that allows ventilation of water vapour from a damp subfloor into a dry wall. This system allows quick and easy bonding of impervious floorcoverings.
Installers often choose STOPGAP ISOLATOR MEMBRANE for fast-track projects where time for traditional subfloor preparation is not available. You can use this product in heritage projects where you must preserve the existing floor, and in temporary installations where you need restore the floor to its original condition. It is not suitable for use in biologically sensitive areas such as hospital wards, operating theatres or in secure areas such as prisons or psychiatric units. Being a loose lay membrane system, STOPGAP ISOLATOR MEMBRANE lacks the sound attributes of a fully bonded system, therefore users may notice a slight increase in noise levels when trafficking.
Users may benefit from using our STOPGAP JOINTING TAPE that provides extra stability to the installation of STOPGAP ISOLATOR MEMBRANE.
You can read more about the application of STOPGAP ISOLATOR MEMBRANE in our F-Talk article here.
