Product Focus: Styccobond F58 PLUS
We take a closer look at F. Ball’s fast-track, fibre-reinforced adhesive.
What is it?
Styccobond F58 PLUS is a fast-drying, fibre-reinforced, pressure sensitive adhesive for vinyl sheet and tile floorcoverings. It can be used as a wet-lay, semi-wet or pressure sensitive adhesive. Its fast-drying formulation enables LVT tiles and planks to be secured from just five minutes following application of the adhesive.
Where is it used?
Styccobond F58 PLUS can be applied to Stopgap smoothing compounds, structurally sound, smooth, dry subfloors of concrete and sand/cement screed, plywood, flooring grade chipboard and hardboard.
The adhesive has been tested to International Maritime Organisation standards and approved for use in marine floor installations. It is also suitable for use over underfloor heating.
What’s different about it?
Developed as a ‘transitional’ adhesive, Styccobond F58 PLUS transitions from a wet-lay adhesive when initially applied to a subfloor, through a semi-wet stage to become fully pressure sensitive.
The reinforcing fibres in the formulation provide resistance to lateral movement, holding tiles firmly in place and reducing the potential for them to slide around, an advantage when creating intricate patterns and designs, such as when installing LVTs.
When used as a pressure-sensitive adhesive, it offers an extended open time of around three hours (depending on ambient conditions), allowing large areas of adhesive to be applied in one application without risking late placement of the floorcovering.
Something you might not know about the product:
When used as a wet-lay adhesive, it is also suitable for the installation of rubber sheet and tile floor coverings up to 2.5mm thick.
