Every month, we look at all the jobs going on around the country, and pick one that we think made best use of our products. This month, we feature Progressive Flooring’s work at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Pyrford.
The guys from Progressive Flooring used a range of F. Ball products to create a spectacular installation for this small parish church.
Replacing crumbling asphalt
They were first called to the Church of the Good Shepherd as the existing asphalt flooring, which ran throughout the church’s ground floor, was beginning to crumble through years of wear and tear. As the church didn’t want to inconvenience its congregation, the contractors were asked to complete the job as quickly as they could.
Protection from damp
Once they had removed the old asphalt subfloor, they conducted RH tests and decided to apply a single coat of Stopgap F77 accelerated waterproof surface membrane system. This allowed the contractors to continue with the job in rapid time while providing the installation with adequate protection from rising damp.
Raising floor levels and delivering a super smooth finish
They then used Stopgap 600 Base to raise floor levels by 15mm, before capping that with a few millimeters of Stopgap 1200 Pro in order to achieve a perfectly smooth finish.
Creative linoleum finish
Finally, the contractors used F. Balls Styccobond F54 linoleum adhesive to install the new modular linoleum tiles which, when completed, formed an image of the cross on the floor of the church.
Tech team support
Speaking about the church renovation, Steve Flinn, Director of Progressive Flooring, said: “We have worked closely with the F. Ball guys for many years, and we always get plenty of support from the tech team. We told them that we had a two week window to complete this phase of the renovation, and they helped us to nail it down by specifying the right products with fast drying times.”
Stunning result
The end result is a stunning, top quality floor that easily deserves to be the February Project of the Month.
