F. Ball adds Stopgap 1500 to marine-approved products

Stopgap 1500 high performance smoothing compound

F. Ball and Co. Ltd.’s Stopgap 1500 high performance, water-mix smoothing compound has been added to the company’s marine range after being certified as compliant with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) standards, as well as the EU Marine Equipment Directive (MED) and UK Marine Equipment Regulations (MER).

Tested in accordance with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) standards, Stopgap 1500 now carries the ‘Wheelmark’ logo on product packaging and accompanying literature, also indicating MED compliance.

This means flooring contractors can use the smoothing compound alongside other flooring installation products in the range to install floorcoverings in marine and offshore environments.

Stopgap 1500 can be applied over old adhesive residues, including bitumen, carpet tile tackifiers and ceramic tile adhesives, eliminating the need for mechanical preparation as part of refurbishment projects. It is also moisture resistant, meaning that it can be applied to damp subfloors prior to the application of a waterproof surface membrane and used in areas exposed to high levels of moisture.

Its low-odour, protein-free formulation allows installations to proceed while adjacent areas remain in use. As a water-mix smoothing compound, no bottle is required, meaning less plastic waste is produced by the flooring industry.
