What is it?
Styccobond F46 is a solvent–free pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive for installing a wide range of PVC sheet and tile floorcoverings. It provides strong initial tack and high bond strength, which increases as it is trafficked, making it ideal for creating complex designs and patterns, including where Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVTs) are used.
Where is it used?
The adhesive is used for securing vinyl floorcoverings to Stopgap levelling compounds, structurally sound, smooth, and dry subfloors of concrete, sand/cement screeds, plywood, flooring grade chipboard and hardboard. It can also be used to adhere resilient floorcoverings directly onto non-absorbent surfaces, including epoxy waterproof surface membranes.
What’s different about it?
It has an extended open time, reducing the risk of late placement. It can also be rolled following trowel application, with a roller that has been pre-coated with the adhesive, to flatten the ridges formed by trowel application, reducing the incidence of them shadowing through thin vinyl flooring.
Something you might not know about the product:
It has been tested to the standards of the International Maritime Organisation and approved for use in marine floor installations. It is also protected against biodegradation and suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations.
Temperature tolerant alternatives
For pressure sensitive performance in areas subject to very high or fluctuating temperatures, Styccobond F49 Hybrid PS is the optimum choice. The water-based vinyl adhesive provides high initial tack and high bond strength when cured, to hold vinyl floorcoverings firmly in place over a wide range of temperatures and prevent unsightly tenting and gapping otherwise caused as the vinyl expands and contracts.
Alternatively, F. Ball’s Styccobond F48 PLUS temperature tolerant adhesive is fibre–reinforced to deliver high initial grab to hold vinyl sheet and tiles securely in place while contractors are working.
