CFA Apprentice of the Year 2023

F. Ball is inspiring the next generation of flooring contractors by supporting this year's CFA Apprentice of the Year award.

The winner of this year’s competition is Mike Waldron, of Hillside Contracts, in Leicester. He was required to complete several stages to enter the competition, including answering application questions, submitting case studies and references.

F. Ball has been a sponsor of the award for over 10 years, and it is a regular feature in the flooring industry calendar. The competition is a platform for apprentices to showcase the skills that they have learnt and for companies to demonstrate their commitment to training in the workplace and addressing the flooring industry skills gap.

Mike received his award along with a prize package from sponsors, including F. Ball, which comprised specialist tools, clothing and flooring supplies, as well as cash and vouchers, together worth £7,000, at a presentation ceremony at the FITA training centre in Loughborough. F. Ball northern sales manager Adam Lord presented Mike with his F. Ball toolkit as part of his prize on the day.

Darren Kenyon, sales director at F. Ball, said: “F. Ball is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of flooring contractors. Celebrating the work of talented young apprentices is a great way of doing this, so we’re delighted to continue our support of the Flooring Apprentice of the Year Award. Congratulations to Mike on behalf of everyone here at F. Ball. We wish him the best in his future career.”
