Women in Flooring

The latest course for female flooring professionals has been held at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence.

The two-day event is free to attend and covers both subfloor preparation and adhesive selection and provides delegates with hands-on experience using a range of the company’s products. The aim is to help attendees develop their experience and knowledge of floorcovering installation while networking with other women in the sector, putting paid to any notion that a career in the industry is just for men.

The course was presented by F. Ball head of training, Tim Green, Training Officer, Steve Lane and technical service manager Stephen Boulton, with participants coming from various areas within the flooring sector, in roles ranging from installers to sales team members. The most recent course has been given enthusiastic reviews by delegates.

Cheryl Squibb, owner of Top Notch Flooring and Interiors in Basingstoke, said: “It’s been an excellent learning curve. It’s helped me understand how our fitters work and identify training requirements for them. Tim and Steve were excellent, really informative and great fun, so I’d highly recommend the course for anyone wanting to know more about subfloor preparation, adhesives and F. Ball in particular.”

Georgie Willingham, finance manager of Woven & Woods, added: “We’ve used a wide range of F. Ball products: smoothing compounds, primers, waterproof surface membranes and adhesives, and it has really helped in knowing what is the best product to use and where.”

Attendees also received a guided tour of F. Ball’s production and laboratory facilities, which provided the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the research and development involved in manufacturing the company’s products.

The F. Ball Centre of Excellence offers free training for all flooring professionals, including specialist courses for both apprentices and seasoned professionals, which are led by experts from the company. The courses cover a variety of topics that are taught through practical demonstrations and exercises using a range of F. Ball products.

The next Women in Flooring course will take place on the 25th/26th October. For more information about courses at the F. Ball Centre of Excellence and to book a place, visit: https://www.f-ball.com/en/training/
