Product focus: Stopgap SRS

Stopgap SRS solvent-free epoxy resin surface reinforcement system.

In every issue, we shine the spotlight on some of our most popular products. This month we take a look at one of F. Ball’s newest products, Stopgap SRS.

What is it?
Stopgap SRS is a solvent-free epoxy resin surface reinforcement system that was designed to quickly stabilise and reinforce weak or poorly installed screeds.

Where is it used?
The product can be used over screeds comprising sand/cement or calcium sulphate, including those containing hot water heating pipes.

What’s different about it?
Stopgap SRS has a fast drying time, meaning that, for the first time, screeds can be reinstated over night. Smoothing underlayment then can be applied the next morning, making it the perfect solution for jobs where time is tight.

Why was it introduced?
Mechanically removing a weak or poorly installed screed can be a big job, and can take up a lot of time. Stopgap SRS was introduced in response to this common problem; it eliminates the need to completely remove a weakened screed, meaning that disruption and downtime of the area is minimised.

Something you might not know about the product.
Stopgap SRS can be used over screeds containing high levels of construction moisture, or in situations where no effective damp proof membrane is present (prior to the application of a waterproof surface membrane).
