Project of the month

Find out how Hi-Spec Flooring created a perfect, lasting finish at the world-famous Dreamland amusement park.

Every month, we look at all the jobs going on around the country, and pick one that we think has made best use of our products. This month, we feature Hi-Spec Flooring’s work at Dreamland, the world-famous amusement park in Margate.

The guys from Hi-Spec needed to work as quickly as possible to get everything finished in time for the site’s official opening. To make sure that happened, they used a range of F. Ball’s fast track, high performance products.

Preparing the subfloor

Before any new floorcoverings could be installed, contractors first had to level and smooth the rough surface that had been left after the old substrate had been removed. Stopgap Green Bag & 114 Liquid smoothing underlayment was installed at a depth of 3mm to provide a, smooth, even surface for the installation of Stopgap F77 one-coat waterproof surface membrane. This was done to impede the passage of subfloor moisture, preventing it from adversely affecting the installation.

Raising the level

Once the waterproof surface membrane had cured, contractors primed the surface with Stopgap P131 General Purpose Primer and installed a further 3mm of Stopgap Green Bag smoothing underlayment to provide a smooth surface for the installation of the new Forbo linoleum floorcoverings.

Strong bonds

Commenting on the use of F. Ball products at Dreamland, Dean Finch of Hi-Spec Flooring said: “The products performed excellently as usual. We use F. Ball products a lot, and we always have done. We have a great relationship with their sales rep; he is always available to help us find the products we need for a particular job. Having that kind of support makes us more than happy to use their products regularly.”

Great result

By using purpose-designed products, the guys from Hi-Spec were able to create a stunning installation capable of dealing with a huge amount of foot traffic, all within the tight deadlines set by Dreamland. That’s why this job was an obvious choice for the May Project of the Month.
