Name:  Nick Treasure
Age: 52
Company: Volante Ltd.
Job Title: Sales Director

How did you get into the flooring industry?
I had an interview with Coca-Cola that didn’t exactly go to plan as I upset their HR director with an idea I had for a new campaign. I was more conservative in my interview with Interface; I got the job and have been working in the flooring industry ever since.

What’s been the biggest change in the industry over the past 10 years?
The quality of the people representing manufacturers has diminished over the years.

Looking forwards, what do you think will be the biggest change in the next 10 years?
Hopefully, the work done by myself and colleague Dave Evans will impact the industry!

What’s the worst job you’ve been on?
Luckily, it’s never happened to me personally, but I have heard horror stories about main contractors having a poor attitude to customers.

And what’s the best?
HMS St Vincent- fascinating ship and history, we were ordered to leave immediately when the first Gulf War started!

Do you have a go-to product for certain jobs?
As a distributor, we strive to give our customers what they want.

What do you like best about the job?
The customers; the vast majority are good fun, politically incorrect and hard workers.

What is your least favourite thing about the job?
Attempting to negotiate with manufacturers to get decent prices on products for our customers.
