Project of the month: Luxury London Apartment

A distinctive floor finish for a luxury residential development in Kensington.

Every month, we look at jobs that have been completed using F. Ball products, and pick one that we think made best use of them. This month, we feature a job by Floors of Distinction, from Buckinghamshire, who installed bespoke Jatoba wood floorcoverings in a multimillion pound apartment in a luxury residential complex in Knightsbridge, London.

Moisture measurements tests were not necessary in the apartment, because the subfloor comprised a newly installed system of raised access anhydrite Knauf GIFA floor panels.

The engineered hardwood flooring was adhered to the subfloor using F. Ball’s Styccobond B95, a one part, flexible, moisture-curing adhesive, designed to accommodate the natural expansion and shrinkage inherent in wooden floorcoverings. Quick setting Styccobond B95 also offers a high bond strength and is suitable for use over underfloor heating.

Styccobond B95 can be applied to Stopgap smoothing underlayments, structurally sound, smooth, dry subfloors of concrete, sand/cement screed and plywood.

Martin Wright, Contracts Director of Floors of Distinction, said: “We use F. Ball adhesives because of the excellent range that they offer, suitable for every eventuality. We also receive great technical backup from F. Ball, giving us the confidence to specify their products for prestigious installations like this, where we have to guarantee the highest quality results.”
